National
Bal-Balika Shibir 2001, UK
Sunday 22 April
2001
Theme: 'One For All & All For One'
The annual bal-balika
national shibir was held at Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London
on 22 April 2001. More than 650 balaks and balikas aged between
6 and 14 from over 20 centres throughout the UK attended this
one-day shibir.
Based on the theme, 'One For All & All For One', it focussed
on five important aspects of a child's life: My Culture, My
Mandir, My People, My Home and My Swami.
Through entertaining skits, educative speeches and enjoyable
classroom sessions, the children were inspired to take pride
in being Indians, Hindus and devotees of Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
Each child undertook commitments to introduce a new friend to
the mandir, to acquaint themselves with the balaks in their
area, participate in ghar sabha and to bow daily to their parents.
At the end of this event-packed shibir, everyone felt that their
attitude towards these important features had received a boost.
