On Tuesday 5 November 2002, the first day of the Hindu New Year (Vikram Samvat 2059), over 1500 people visited the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Sydney for darshan of the Annakut. Over 750 items of vegetarian food were devotionally prepared, decoratively displayed and lovingly offered to the deities.

In the evening, a special celebration program was held featuring enlightening speeches and entertaining cultural presentations. Local dignitaries also attended the celebrations.
