BAPS
Volunteers Plant Trees
Sydney, Australia
27 July 2003
The increasing rate
of deforestation has affected the health of our global environment.
In line with BAPS' environmental care activities, BAPS Swaminarayan
Mandir, Sydney had organized a tree planting day on the 27 July
2003. The importance of the event was significant this year
as Australia has gone through a lot of environmental damage
in the last couple of years. For two consecutive years Australia
has been battling devastating bushfires which has destroyed
hectares of pristine rainforests. To make matters worst, Australia
is just recovering from one of the worst droughts in decades.
Recognizing an opportunity to restore the local environment,
the enthusiastic volunteers of BAPS Sydney braved one of the
coldest mornings this year, and planted more than 200 saplings
in the local park.
