Over 440 kishores and kishoris from
throughout the UK attended the National Kishore-Kishori Summer
Shibir from 21-23 August 2003 at Nottingham University. The shibir
was based on the theme 'Sant Param Hitkari - Meeting him is meeting
God.' The schedule for each of the three days focused on the topics
of Bhakta, Guru and Bhagwan. With these daily topics in mind,
subjects of spiritual and practical importance were included in
the agenda so that the main message of the shibir was reinforced:
Guru is the bridge between bhakta and Bhagwan.
Through entertaining and enlightening
speeches, group discussions and multimedia presentations the message
of the shibir was conveyed.
A new feature of the shibir this
year was the goshti sessions on selected subjects in which kishores
and kishoris participated separately in small groups of five.
The groups met every night and on the final day the team leader
presented a report of the points discussed.
Also, an excellent exhibition was
set up in the main foyer by the kishori mandal. The exhibition
had been prepared by contributions from all kishori mandals throughout
the UK. It covered three themes: Recreating Chansad (the birthplace
of Pramukh Swami Maharaj), Bapa's Achievements and Trip Down Memory
Lane.
The shibir also featured a video
of Swamishri's blessings, specially recorded for the event.
Thus, several months of detailed
planning and preparation resulted in a smoothly executed shibir
which everyone found truly memorable.
