As part of the BAPS Bal
Mandal Golden Jubilee Celebration, the final of the 'Yogi
Ruchi' mukhpath competition was held in Amdavad on Saturday
8 November 2003.
The competition, launched
in December 2002, was open for any balaks and balikas studying
in Standards 6 or 7 who sored over 75% in their school exams.
These children selected one of the four categories - Vachanamrut,
Swamini Vatu, Kirtans and Shlok-Sakhi in which to participate.
Also, children studying in Standards 1 to 4 were allowed to
compete in the Shlok-Sakhi section. Targets were set for each
category and in March 2003, the first testing session was
held at a regional level. From this only those who fluently
completed the targets for each section were selected to continue
further. Then in June 2003, regional finals were held in which
451 balaks and balikas participated. The successful participants
were selected for national finals on 8 November.
The targets for each category
were as follows: to memorise 51 Vachanamruts & 200 Vachanamrut
Quotations, 800 Swamini Vatu, 150 Kirtans, and 175 Shloks
& 175 Sakhis. In all, 71 balaks and 109 balikas participated
in the finals. The efforts that these young children had put
in over the past year was clearly evident. The performance
by all was excellent.
All the participants were
presented with a personalized certificate of blessings from
Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
