An anti-addiction unit and a serene prayer room will provide solace to the patients.

At 9.00 am the Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi inaugurated the hospital amidst Vedic chantings. During a brief tour of the hospital the Chief Minister, Shri Ashokbhai Bhatt, Minister for Law and Shri Narottambhai Patel, Minister for Water Supplies, expressed their accolades for the quality and meticulous care taken in constructing the hospital.

The inauguration assembly was held on the precincts of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in the presence of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.

Shri Narendrabhai Modi praised the BAPS socio-spiritual activities inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj in his address. He added, “Today, a hospital has been declared open for the people of Surat. The difference between this hospital and that of others is that it is not only fully equipped with latest instruments and technology but it is blessed with spirituality and the divine grace of Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Pramukh Swami Maharaj serves the whole of society and his works have become a standard and benchmark for all to emulate; be it festivals, educational complexes or hospitals. If any one builds a hospital in Surat then it has to be like or better than BAPS Pramukh Swami Hospital. I also want to tell you that our society is facing a grave problem. For every 1000 baby boys born we have 850 female births. This imbalance is not God inspired. I appeal to you all to join in the campaign against female feticide.”

Thereafter the Chief Minister inaugurated a new publication “Yug Purush, Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj” authored by Kirit N. Shelat (IAS), Secretary for Dept of Agriculture.

MP Shri Kashiram Rana hailed the inauguration of the hospital and said, “Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s services extend from cities to tribal areas. The ultramodern BAPS Hospital here seems as if it is a hospital from London, Paris and New York. I have seen it and when you will step into it you will experience your pain and misery fade. There is a fusion of state-of-the-art treatment and spirituality.”

Finally the assembly was crowned with the blessings of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, “We all experience diseases of body and mind. The hospital will cure our body and the mandir cures the problems and diseases of mind. The diseases of mind are due to lack of self control and moral indiscipline. The more one listens and sees immoral things the more distraught one’s mind becomes. We pray to God that all be blessed with good health, prosperity and spiritual happiness.”

The inaugural assembly of 15,000 dignitaries, doctors, industrialists, educationists and devotees concluded with a vote of thanks.
