Pramukh Swami Maharaj inaugurated the first phase of the Swaminarayan Vidya mandir complex, located on Padra Road in Atladra, on the outskirts of Vadodara.

When completed the school will cater for over 1,260 students and have residential facilities for 550. Providing modern teaching aids and well designed classrooms, the school will provide value-based English medium education of high quality. The school also provides excellent facilities to develop students' talents in crafts, music, dance and other creative skills. It also has an indoor sports arena.

A unique feature of the school is the outdoor Science Park located on the school campus which provides education of basic scientific principles through a large variety of scientific games and demonstrations.

The first intake of students studying in Standards 1 to 4 will begin on 15 June 2005.

Blessing the inauguration assembly, Pramukh Swami Maharaj stressed the need for value-based education in today's society to teach children good moral character and a life free of addictions.
