Making
good use of their long winter
vacation, over
80 children, teenagers and youths of the BAPS center in Nairobi prepared
to perform 'Sanskrutik Virasat' - a cultural presentation inspiring
traditional values and good character.
The
first performance on 7 January 2006 was attended by principals and staff
from ten schools and BAPS devotees.
The
second performance was 21 January 2006, in which over 250 pupils and
their parents from four schools attended.
The
third, and final performance was on 28 January 2006 in the presence
of the Indian High Commissioner, H. E. Surendra Kumar, representatives
of 70 Indian organizations, 400 children and 700 well-wishers.
Following
these performances, the Hindu Foundation held an essay competition for
Nairobi school children on the subject 'Our Ideal Children'.
As
a result of these performances, many children were inspired to undertake
vows of regular study, daily prayer, no swearing, discretion in watching
TV, no stealing and no lying.
