The groundbreaking ceremony for the
new BAPS Youth Complex in Auckland, New Zealand, took place on
Sunday 29 April 2007, in the presence of Pujya Kothari Swami and
the Chief Guest, Honorable Phil Goff, Minister of Defense and
Trade. The sadhus conducted the Vedic mahapuja ceremony from 3.00
pm to 4.30 pm in the mandir auditorium before the actual groundbreaking
ritual on-site. More than 300 devotees and well-wishers took part
in the ceremony by placing a stone in the foundation of the new
Youth Complex, which will have extensive facilities for young
people to conduct classes, organize youth seminars and shibirs.
In the public assembly afterwards,
attended by over 500 devotees, Honorable Phil Goff praised BAPS
and Pramukh Swami Maharaj for their noble service in society
by creating a conducive environment for young people to grow
up with a positive attitude, moral values, and spiritual awareness.
Thereafter a cultural drama on family values and nurturing children
was presented by children and youths. Addressing the gathering
at the end, Pujya Kothari Swami pointed out that the facility
will serve the future generations. He prayed for peace and harmony
in society and wished everyone success in their pursuits to
uphold cultural and spiritual values.
