During
the evening assembly, the students of The Swaminarayan School
offered their talents before a tightly-packed haveli with a
series of excellent group and individual performances. Dressed
in their smart school uniforms, four pupils opened the evening’s
programme with a wonderful speech in Gujarati, illustrating
the cultural values instilled at the school. Three excellent
kirtans followed, accompanied by rhythmical beats of the tabla,
melodious sounds of the sitar and the soft notes from the flute,
exhibiting the array of talents acquired by these young children.
A colourful dance was then performed before a stunning musical
tabla talent show impressed the audience. The grand finale demonstrated
the Sanskrit skills of the pupils, chanting a succession of
Vedic shlokas, followed by the respective translations in English.
