Devotees in London observed the lunar eclipse in the presence
of Pramukh Swami Maharaj on the evening of Tuesday 4th May 2004,
commencing with dhun and kirtans at 7.45pm. Swamishri, present
in the haveli from the opening, signalled his personal intent
for the evening with a delightful gesture, throwing his arms
aloft in the air encouraging sadhus and devotees to sing devotional
songs with emotion.
Ghanshyamcharan Swami provided an entertaining discussion on
the fruits of religious discourses, with an array of kirtans.
Krishnapriya Swami rose to the occasion by continuing the lively
kirtans. Swamishri’s eyes illustrated his enjoyment as
the sparkling smile and memorable laugh illuminated the evening.
Swamishri
was adorned with an orange shawl as the evening progressed past
10pm with dimmed lights providing a majestic image in preparation
of the chestha, chanted together by the entire sabha. Such breathtaking
darshan of Swamishri imprinted a stunning murti in the hearts
of all.
Following
Viveksagar Swami’s brief discourse of the observance of
this eclipse, Swamishri offered his blessings, emphasising the
importance of observing such religious occasions and explained
the significance of such festivals as established by Bhagwan
Swaminarayan. Swamishri thanked the attendees for their devotion.
Praising the sadhus and devotees for their contribution to a
marvellous evening, Swamishri concluded his blessings shortly
before 11.15pm when the final dhun was chanted.
