In the morning, Pramukh Swami Maharaj travelled to Luton to
perform the Murti Pratishtha vidhi (image installation ceremony)
at the new BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir. Swamishri consecrated the
murtis of Akshar Purushottam Maharaj, Radha Krishna Dev, Guru
Parampara, Ganapati and Hanumanji.
Hindu
worshippers throughout Luton and the surrounding Bedfordshire
area were delighted that they will now be able to gather at
the newly-opened mandir to practise their faith and participate
in colourful festivals and celebrations that will promote strong
moral and spiritual values.
The
committed volunteers had prepared an annakut of 250 various
vegetarian items. Other volunteers had spent months leading
up to the opening, dedicating their time and immense enthusiasm
to ensure that the mandir was ready in time for the grand opening.
Various
dignitaries also attended the ceremony. Councillor Michael Dolling,
Mayor of Luton remarked; “The city of Luton is delighted
to welcome the mandir and its worshippers.” President
of the Liberal Democrats, Lord Dholakia said, “I am very
proud of the fantastic contribution towards social upliftment,
tolerance and understanding that BAPS has made.”
In
his blessings, Swamishri emphasised the importance of regular
attendance at the mandir in order to achieve spiritual and personal
progress.
