Satsang activities commenced in Birmingham in 1972. Pramukh Swami Maharaj first did vicharan in Birmingham in 1974. On 23 September 1990, Pramukh Swami Maharaj opened the ‘Satsang Bhavan’ at Ivor Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham. Due to the growth of Satsang in Birmingham and with the blessings of Swamishri, a new site at Pitmaston Road, Hall Green was acquired in July 2002. The same murtis which were consecrated by Swamishri in 1990 were moved to the new premises in a special ceremony on 18 April 2004.

During Swamishri’s recent stay in London on 12 November 2006, he had performed the pujan of new murtis to be installed in Birmingham. On Sunday 10 December 2006, [Mãgshar Vad 6] the murtis of Shri Akshar Purushottam Maharaj, Shri Radha-Krishna Dev and the Guru Parampara were consecrated. Sadhus from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Neasden, London started the pratishtha rituals at 10.40am as Vedic verses were chanted to infuse the ‘pran’ in the murtis.

After the ãrti, everyone had the opportunity of performing darshan of the murtis and the Annakut in which over 100 items were offered to the deities. 800 devotees and well-wishers attended the celebrations.

In the pratishtha assembly, Yogvivek Swami read out Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s blessings written to the devotees of Birmingham Satsang Mandal for this auspicious occasion.
