A one-day National Mahila Shibir was held at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Neasden, London on Saturday 16th December 2006. A total of 950 mahilas from all over the country attended. The atmosphere was charged with great enthusiasm as this was the first ever National Mahila Shibir organised to celebrate the BAPS Centenary.
The theme of the Shibir was Akshar Purushottam Upasana. This was the flight with ‘BAPS Airways’ for the ultimate journey through the past…. present… the future. The passengers just had to sit back and relax whilst participants from all mandals explored the 100 years history of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha to better understand the Akshar Purushottam Upasana.
All participants were given flight tickets with a booklet at the check-in desk to enter the journey. The journey started at 10am with ‘duty-free’ herbal care products. The Shibir, through a combination of dances, speeches, dramas, audio-visual presentations and role-play sketches highlighted both 100 years of our Sanstha and the journey of Akshar Purushottam Upasana from the time of Bhagwan Swaminarayan to the present day with our beloved guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj. At 12.30pm, the flight halted to refuel for lunch; after lunch, the journey continued until 6.00pm.
The day was exciting; full of enthusiasm and entertainment as all the passengers left satisfied with a summary card of the principles of the Akshar Purushottam Upasana to carry with them for life.
