Sunday 14 October 2007, the last full day of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s 2007 vicharan in the UK, was celebrated at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London, as ‘Harikrishna Maharaj Bhakti Din.’
The entire morning was dedicated exclusively to the Mahila wing who had the opportunity to offer their devotion to Harikrishna Maharaj in various ways, including speeches and devotional songs.
The evening ceremony commenced at 4.00pm. Following the opening bhajan, Viveksagar Swami explained the significance of murti puja and the glory of such devotion. This led to the grand entrance of Harikrishna Maharaj; He was carried into the Haveli on a palanquin and welcomed to the sound of drums, bells and conches.
An insightful video of Harikrishna Maharaj’s daily routine was followed by Atmatrupt Swami briefly narrating the history of Harikrishna Maharaj from the time of being served by Gunatitanand Swami. Ishwarcharan Swami then spoke on the devotion Yogiji Maharaj had for Harikrishna Maharaj. Senior and sevak sadhus shared their cherished incidents of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s devotion to Harikrishna Maharaj. Swamishri’s entry into the assembly at this point was greeted with an energetic and colourful dance.
In his blessings, Swamishri spoke of how Bhagwan Swaminarayan saw all as equal – whether rich or poor – and explained how God is appreciative of our devotion according to our means. Swamishri continued by explaining that it is bhakti (devotion) that ultimately pleases God. Finally, Swamishri explained the significance of such festivals, underlining the memories that such events offer and how they can be liberating.
Following the pujan and arti of Harikrishna Maharaj, the conclusion of the programme saw the devotees filing by for Swamishri’s darshan and to offer their devotion to Harikrishna Maharaj. |
