Family Walks for World Trade Center Heroes
Sunday 21 October
2001, New York, NY
This year’s walkathon is dedicated to the victims of the September 11th tragedy. To best assist the families of the victims, BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir organized a 2.5 miles walkathon on Queens Blvd today. One Thousand Indian American joined the walk and many others participated by sponsoring the walk. All the proceeds of the charity walk are to be donated to the victims of the September 11th tragedy. Under the inspiration of Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the nation wide walk in 21 centers of BAPS will follow the New York way. The walk was enlightened for the fact that it showed the unity of minds to condemn the act of terrorism in the world. With patriotic music blasting through the streets of New York the walk was a grand success, helped by the New York’s finest. The noteworthy help extended by the police officers of Pct. 112 was appreciated.
