His Divine Holiness Pramukh
Swami Maharaj was formally welcomed to North America at a
Swagat Sabha (welcome assembly) on Saturday, May 15,
2004.
The Hofstra University Arena
in New York was nearly filled to capacity by devotees from
all over America. Everyone in the audience was treated to
an evening filled with memorable kirtans (devotional
songs) and informative, inspirational speeches by Pujya Viveksagar
Swami, Pujya Doctor Swami, and other learned saints.
An upbeat and energetic dance
by kishores (youth) and balaks (kids) put everyone
in high spirits for Swamishri's arrival. After meeting several
local, state, and national political dignitaries, Swamishri
blessed the assembly with his divine words of wisdom.
