Murti Puja
is one of the most fundamental elements of Hindu practice,
and it is a way that thousands offer their love and devotion
to God. The unstable human mind needs a concrete form of
some type before even starting to worship God. Murtis are
God's gift to humans, given so that we can worship in a
manner we can comprehend. Devotees lovingly offer flowers,
incense, clothing, and food to the murtis with much reverence
and humility.
Murtis are
more than just statues or idols, because when a true saint
performs the Murti Pratishtha ceremony, God resides within
the murti completely. The Murti is God Himself.
Murtis are
the soul of Mandirs, the point of divine power where prayers
are offered and blessings are received. Anyone who stands
before these divine murtis cannot help but feel God's infinite
power and presence.
