July 31, 2004
On July 31, 2004,
with the divine blessings of H.D.H. Pramukh Swami Maharaj,
the Raleigh BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated with
grandeur and jubilation. What started as a small satsang center
20 years ago, flourished by the inspiration of H.D.H Pramukh
Swami Maharaj to a beautiful Mandir set on 7 acres of land
located on the banks of scenic Lake Crabtree. This picturesque
setting combined with a sunny North Carolina day, created
a celestial atmosphere for this auspicious occasion.
On this great day,
the murti pratishtha was conducted with true Vedic traditions
in the presence of Pujya Doctor Swami, Pujya Bhaktavatsal
Swami and Pujya Santo. The ceremony began with the traditional
mahapooja conducted by Pujya Santo and devotees. Following
the mahapooja was the murti pratishtha ceremony in which the
murtis of Shri Bhagwan Swaminarayan, Shri Aksharmurti Gunatitanand
Swami, Guru Parampara, Shri Radha-Krishna Dev, Shri Hanumanji,
and Shri Ganpatiji were consecrated. Thereafter, all devotees
got to enjoy a spectacular annakut prepared by the Raleigh
ladies wing.
Along with devotees
from all over the region, dignitaries for the state of North
Carolina also attended this historic event. Honorable Gordon
Cromwell, Mayor of Morrisville, and Honorable Fred Smith,
State Senator of North Carolina, both addressed the assembly
expressing their joy and amazement of this wonderful Mandir.
The event was culminated by blessing from Pujya Doctor Swami.
This was a truly unforgettable day for all devotees who attended
this divine event.
