National Balika Mandal Shram Yagna Day |
The first National Balika Shram Yagna Day was held in North America on Saturday, May 21, 2005. Balikas from all the regions participated in this Shram Yagna at their local mandir. With the theme, 'Seva kare e Pramukh', balikas were given the opportunity to experience the true spirit of seva by cleaning their local mandirs. The day began with balika sanchalikas delivering a speech entitled, 'Seva Kare e Pramukh' with inspirational prasangs on the spirit of seva performed by Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj; they were also shown video presentations highlighting the importance of volunteerism in their lives. Balikas then engaged themselves in cleaning different areas of the mandir. This included vacuuming the sabha halls, organizing their classrooms, sweeping and mopping the restrooms and kitchen floors, wiping windows and doors, picking up garbage outside the mandir, landscaping, and cleaning chairs and tables in their dining areas, shoe racks, bookstall, audio-video room, and mandir hallways. At the conclusion of the day, an awards ceremony was held wherein each balika was gifted a souvenir and a 'Certificate of Participation'. As a result of this Shram Yagna, balikas felt a sense of pride in helping clean their mandirs by performing service and pleasing their beloved Guruhari Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj. They were inspired with motivation to participate in seva on a regular basis. They understood the importance of coming together and accomplished their goal in performing a successful Shram Yagna by working as a team. |
