Devotees
gathered in Atlanta, GA, on Saturday, January 27, 2007, to
celebrate the placement of the first stone of the Shikhars
(spires) atop the traditional Hindu Mandir under construction.
The ceremony took place on this momentous morning in the presence
of sadhus, volunteers, and well-wishers from across the southeastern
United States. After the pujan of the stones, they were lifted
by a crane and installed on the mandir's roof.
This
Shikharbaddh Mandir is one of the three structures being built
on the site in Atlanta. The construction of a Family Activity
Center and Sant Nivas has also begun. With over 75 percent
of the mandir already constructed, dedicated volunteers of
all ages are working diligently to finish in time for the
August inaugural ceremony, which will be in the presence of
Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The dedication to this
project is evident in the thousands of man-hours volunteers
devote each month.
