March 14 - 24, 2007
Following
the divine wish of Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj, four saints,
namely, Pujya Chaitanyamurti Swami, Pujya Shobhitswarup Swami,
Pujya Priyaseva Swami, Pujya Ghanshyamseva Swami, along with
two devotees, namely, Dr. Tusharbhai Patel of Fall River and
Kanubhai Patel of Orlando visited the Caribbean islands from
March 14, 2007 to March 24, 2007. This satsang vichran tour
was undertaken with the aim of strengthening the faith of
the devotees and satsangi medical students in that area.
The
first stop was a three-day visit of Trinidad from March 15
to March 17. Through two radio interviews, 101.7 FM and Jaagruti
FM, the message of BAPS and Pramukh Swami Maharaj resonated
throughout the Indian community on the island. The saints
visited several of the hundreds of Hindu mandirs on the island,
including the Triveni mandir, the Dattatreya mandir and the
Dolchhedi mandir. The saints also met Trinidad's former Prime
Minister, Mr. Basudeo Pande, who is very much fond of the
activities of BAPS and Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Following
Trinidad, the saints visited the small island of Dominica
from March 17 to March 20, where they blessed the satsangi
medical students of Ross Medical University. Saints did padhramanis
to the students' apartments and also held an assembly on the
topic of "Life in Balance: Integrating Progress, Culture and
Spirituality." So inspired were the students with the talks
and the kirtans that they vowed to hold weekly Campus Satsang
Sabha to maintain their culture and religion. This was the
first time that saints of BAPS visited Dominica.
Following
this, the saints visited the island of Grenada from March
21 to March 24. Satsangi students on this island study in
St. George's Medical School. Here too, the saints did padhramanis
and gave a discourse. Here again, a group of students vowed
to hold weekly Campus Satsang Sabha. This was also the first
time that saints of BAPS visited Grenada.
This
ten-day Satsang Vichran tour was immensely successful in fulfilling
aim for which it was undertaken.
