joined in the Vedic rituals for the First Traditional Hindu temple to
be built in Toronto, Canada. Pramukh Swami Maharaj himself performed the
main rituals making sacred the ground where the images will be enthroned.
Many local, state and national leaders applauded with one voice that the
spiritual growth of BAPS is unique because it has a deeper social impact.
Federal Minister of Health, Allen Rock said that "If London's Shri Swaminarayan
Mandir is the world's eighth wonder then Toronto's mandir will be the
world's ninth wonder!" The assembly gave a standing ovation to Swamishri
when His Honor Mayor Mel Lastman honored Pramukh Swami Maharaj with the
Key to the City of Toronto. Swamishri is the first South Asian to receive
such a grand honor. Also present was Tony Clement, who represented the
Premier of Ontario. |
