Temples
for True Upasana:
It
was decided to celebrate the religious festival on the full-moon
day of Phagan of Samvat year 1962 at Anand. The hostility of the
opponents had not yet subsided. They tried their best to see that
the festival did not materialise. They attempted to discourage
the devotees. But it was all in vain. Some eight hundred disciples
had gathered in the festival. All of them, requested Swamishri
to build a separate temple. But Swamishri said: "A settlement
with Vadtal is probable. So let us not think about a new temple
for the present." The devotees, however, insisted and began
to collect donations for the temple. Within a short time a sum
of rupees forty thousand was registered. Swamishri then told them:
"Please stop the collections now. If this is found inadequate,
we shall ask for more donations later."
Donations were enlisted, but a question arose as to where to build
the temple. Everyone suggested to build it in his own village,
but Swamishri preferred Bochasan. He said: "Shriji Maharaj
had promised Kashidas Mota of Bochasan that a temple would be
built in his village. We shall therefore build a temple there
in accordance with the wishes of Maharaj." All readily agreed,
and within a short period a plot of land was also purchased for
the Bochasan temple.
When Swamishri arrived in Anand, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Madhavteerth
was also present there. He wished to meet Swamishri hoping that
if a learned scholar like Shastri Yagnapurushdas joined him, he
would be able to vanquish the sadhus of Vadtal in a debate. Swamishri
could foresee his intention and so he replied: "We are one
with Vadtal." Though Madhavteerth could not achieve his object,
he was greatly impressed with the feelings that Shastriji Maharaj
had for Vadtal. He affirmed: "In the whole sampraday none
can equal Shastri Yagnapurushdas either in scholarship or in saintliness."
