Serves: 2 persons
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 2 tablespoons ghee for seasoning
- salt to taste
- 1 cup rice
- ¼ cup tuver daal or moong daal
- 2 cloves
- a piece/stick of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chilli-ginger paste
Method:
- wash daal and rice in separate vessels
and soak for 15 minutes in warm water
- then drain water from daal and
rice
- heat the ghee in a presure cooker
- add rai, when it splutters add chilli-ginger paste
- add daal and little salt
- stir fry
- add some water and let the daal cook
a little
- add the rice
- add all the other spices and some
salt
- stir well and add 4 cups of water
- cook in pressure cooker on full heat for 15 minutes
- when ready add about 1 tablespoon
of ghee, stir well and serve
