Join us to celebrate Diwali – the festival of light and Hindu New Year with your friends and family at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir!
BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Lilburn, Georgia, hosts the largest Diwali and Hindu New Year celebrations in the state. Open to one and all, the celebrations are an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy the traditions, colors and rich culture of the Hindu faith.
Diwali, the festival of light, is one of the most important and colorful festivals of the Hindu calendar. It is a time when charity, goodwill, family values and the love of God are celebrated and reinforced.
A traditional celebration of Diwali will be held in front of the Mandir. Countless lamps will be lit on this occasion and a maha arti will be held where all can participate in unison. The Maha Arti (an offering to God for inner peace, prosperity and happiness) will be followed by a festive display of music, lights and fireworks.
The day following Diwali marks the beginning of the auspicious Hindu New Year. It is celebrated festively with annakut - a ceremonial and devotional offering of hundreds of vegetarian food items to God.
On the auspicious occasion of Diwali and Hindu New Year, BAPS Shayona will be selling hot food and snacks.
