BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Lilburn, Georgia, hosts the largest Diwali and Hindu New Year celebrations in the state. Open to one and all, the celebrations are an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy the traditions, colors and rich culture of the Hindu faith.

Diwali, the festival of light, is one of the most important and colorful festivals of the Hindu calendar. It is a time when charity, goodwill, family values and the love of God are celebrated and reinforced.

    Diwali with Maha Arti & Fireworks

A traditional celebration of Diwali will be held in front of the Mandir. Countless lamps will be lit on this occasion and a maha arti will be held where all can participate in unison. The Maha Arti (an offering to God for inner peace, prosperity and happiness) will be followed by a festive display of music, lights and fireworks.

The day following Diwali marks the beginning of the auspicious Hindu New Year. It is celebrated festively with annakut - a ceremonial and devotional offering of hundreds of vegetarian food items to God.

On the day of Diwali and Hindu New Year (November 13 – 14, 2012), the convenient off-site parking will remain at Harmony Grove Park. The off-site parking address is: 119 Harmony Grove Road, Lilburn, GA

In order to avoid traffic on Rockbridge Road, please use the following directions during the event for off-site parking:

From I-85 North or South:
  • Take exit 99 (Jimmy Carter Blvd)
  • From I-85 northbound turn right onto Jimmy Carter Blvd
  • From I-85 southbound turn left onto Jimmy Carter Blvd
  • Go on Jimmy Carter Blvd approximately 3.5 miles
  • Turn left onto Lawrenceville Hwy/GA 29 and go 1.7 miles.
  • Turn right onto Harmony Grove Rd and go 0.7 miles.
  • Harmony Grove Park will be on your right.
