As part of the worldwide Suvarna Bal Mahotsav Celebrations, the balaks and balikas of Sydney, Australia, participated in an exciting adhiveshan on Saturday 17 January 2004. There were three main competition categories: mukhpath (memorizing), talent and sports - held separately for the balaks and balikas.

Despite their sparse knowledge of Gujarati, all the children put in great efforts to memorize Swamini Vatu, kirtans, shloks and sakhis.

In the talent category, competitions included: speeches, solo singing, mono acting, etc. Here, too, the children performed very well. In sports, there was keen competition in all the events.

The children's efforts were rewarded with prizes. The entire event was enjoyed by all the participants and judges.

The performances by the children were highly commendable. Their involvement in such competitions developed their self-confidence and has inspired them to further develop their talents.
