Bhagatji Maharaj Birth Anniversary Celebrations
BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Neasden, London

Saturday 27 February 2010 & Sunday 28 February 2010

The birth anniversary of Brahmaswarup Bhagatji Maharaj was celebrated at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London on Saturday 27 February and Sunday 28 February 2010.

The Mahila Mandal celebrated the festival on the evening of Saturday 27 February 2010 with a programme of video presentations, speeches and devotional singing themed around the key features of Bhagatji Maharaj’s life – agna, seva and upasana. Children performed an entertaining skit on the importance of imbibing the teachings of the Guru, after which inspiring incidents from Bhagatji Maharaj’s life were narrated by senior female devotees.

An interesting debate on the benefits of seva provided a further insight for all those gathered. This was followed by a video presentation of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s recent blessings regarding the importance of upasana, the key aspects of which were then emphasised through a thought-provoking collection of kirtans on the life of Bhagatji Maharaj.

The actual day of Bhagatji Maharaj’s birth anniversary (Fagan sud Punam) fell on Sunday 28 February 2010. The celebrations on this evening commenced with dhun and prarthna followed by a discourse by Munibhushan Swami illustrating Bhagatji Maharaj’s ability to understand the wishes of Gunatitanand Swami, and offering service accordingly. This was then followed by a bhajan, ‘Seva na karnar Bhagatji’, illustrating the true knowledge that had been imbibed by Bhagatji Maharaj.

Yogvivek Swami elaborated on the virtues of Bhagatji Maharaj in more detail while touching upon the spiritual significance of the festivals of Holi and Pushpadolotsav.
