The 4th Annual Walkathon

Sunday 20 October 2001, Fremont, CA

Walkers participated in the 4th annual “Family Walk for Family Values” organized by the volunteers of BAPS Shree Swaminarayan Mandir. Several Dignitaries including Congressman Mike Honda, inaugurated the walk by handing over specially designed US Flags to kids. The walkathon was held at Lake Elizabeth Park in Fremont California. Walkers ranged from as young as 5 months (in strollers) to as old as 80 years. The cheerful group of walkers donned special t-shirts symbolizing their love for this great nation and walked a distance of 6 miles (10 kms) to support this noble humanitarian cause. The proceeds from the event will go towards the BAPS Care US Relief Fund, which has been setup for helping the families of those affected by the September 11th tragedy.
