History
A devotee named Mathurbhai and his devout wife longed to see
the day when a beautiful mandir would adorn their village.
To this end, he started constructing a mandir but soon ran
into problems. Realising
that only a powerful personality like Shastriji Maharaj would
be able to fulfil his wish, he requested Shastriji Maharaj
to construct a mandir in his village. Shastriji Maharaj went
to Atladra and showed Mathurbhai the land that had been sanctified
by Lord Swaminarayan. Mathurbhai promptly purchased the land
and handed it over to Shastriji Maharaj.
The mandir construction
commenced, and as with previous temples, the saints were personally
involved in the work.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj, known
then as Narayanswarupdas, was also involved in the construction.
The mandir was soon completed and at the image installation
ceremony, Shastriji Maharaj predicted that Atladra would,
in the future, become part of Baroda itself.
Festivals
The festivals of Vasant Panchmi (Jan/Feb) and Janmashthmi
(August) are celebrated here annually in the presence of Pramukh
Swami Maharaj.
