A Yuvak-Yuvati Shibir was held at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Sydney on Sunday 18 April 2010. The shibir focused on “Sanskruti – Values and Traditions”.
Vivekpriya Swami elaborated on how to attain peace and happiness through the teachings of our vast cultural heritage which is largely based on ancient scriptures, mandirs and the teachings of a true guru. He specifically emphasized the need to obey a guru such as Pramukh Swami Maharaj who is the embodiment of dhrama and sanskruti. Inspiring video presentations helped to inculcate some sublime messages such as the need of daily puja, tilak-chandlo and respecting parents.
The youngsters vowed to live a satsang-centric life after an invigorating question-answer session in which the sadhus gave practical solutions on how to cope with peer pressure and overcome promiscuity. Many young people took satsang niyams of adhering to a pure and moral way of life. The one-day shibir rejuvenated everyone to make satsang a part of their lives as well as to focus more on their studies and careers.
