The global recession has affected virtually every industry and profession around the world. This global impact has also notably affected the innovation and technology sector of Silicon Valley with many having lost their jobs as layoffs across the Bay Area take their toll.

In response to this crisis, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in San Jose, CA, Washington DC, Edison, NJ organized a Career Help Forum to readily assist those who may lost their jobs, are in search of career advice, or are pondering a long-term financial forecast.

The event presented a chance to network with leaders within diverse fields and for attendees to explore employment opportunities. Because of the involvement of several organizations including recruitment agencies and business owners attendees gathered valuable information on potential career resources and received much sought-after guidance.

The attendees, ranging from new graduates to experienced job-seekers, received proficient advice and council on a large spectrum of professions and trades, including engineering, government employment, finance, accounting, retail, sales, and manufacturing.

Web tools for effective job search were also highlighted. The seminar stressed the importance of constructing and maintaining a current list of professional contacts, and the typical review profiles of hiring managers.

The Career Help Forum has organized a process whereby professional volunteers provide regular advice and guidance to registered job seekers. Participants left the event feeling positive and better informed for the next step in their career.
