Each
person struggles through
live. For some the trials are
overpowering, for others a bored
status quo prevails,and
for a minority mountains are
pounded to dust in
the search for meaning and joy.
Within the invisible depths of
each soul there is a yearning.
A need to know Why?.
Why do we live?,
Why do we experience problems?,
Why are we travellers on the
journey of life?.
In the search for answers to
their uncertainties many turn to
the God-realised Saint.

Travellers
On The Journey Of Life |
Knights
Of The Faith... |
For thousands of years in Indian culture there has been the tradition
of surrendering ones self to the guru. Even in todays
modern society the tradition still lives. One can see young graduates
renouncing the world to became sadhus for a place at Swamishris
feet. To them he is everything. Through his teachings and inspirations
they become the next generation of knights, albeit gentle, of the
faith, defending and sustaining the ancient culture and spirituallity
of India against the evils of todays materialistic society.

Depression |
During a special convention
for the sadhus of Amdavad temple... |
|
Sadhu: How can one never become depressed in life?
|
|
Swamishri : Depression will come, pain will come. So we should develop
the strength to tolerate. If we attain the knowledge of atma-Paramatma,
we will never be depressed.
We experience misery because of our social life. Our body is a slave
of our desires, so we will have to face difficulties. Even devotees
have had tough times. But they were unaffected by them because they
had understanding. Even Muktanand Swami suffered from Tuberclosis.
This body is a haven for disease. Nath Bhakta never had any money,
but he was happy! Depression will come but we should dispel it with
understanding. The Satpurush gives us such understanding. But we
cannot dispel depression by our own comprehension. On the path of
righteousness there are hundreds of obstacles. With wisdom we can
overcome them.
Govind Swami left home to worship God. He was tempted by women and
wealth but he wasnt drawn into them. Vachanamritam Sarangpur
18 says, One who is depressed will either go to sleep, fast,
argue with others or even commit suicide. God and His Saint
are the removers of depression. Thus we should not be disheartened.
When depression comes we should stand and fight it. One who cooks
will obviously get burnt sometimes. Thus one who has not taken this
path feels nothing; one who has, experiences all kinds of problems.

What type of sadhus should we become to please you?
|
|
Swamishri : Eni rite rit, biji rite badh - by walking
in the footsteps of sadhus before us such as Jadbharat, Janak, Jaydev.
They all had saintly qualities and lived according to Gods
wishes. We have heard the lives of such sadhus, we have seen the
life of Yogi Bapa. In Vachanamritam Gadhada I/44 Shriji Maharaj
tells us, I am a sadhu who has no vanity about my caste, creed,
etc.
