8 January 2002: Ghela Arti
The Swaminarayan Mahamantra
procession terminated at 6.30 pm by the banks of the river Unmat Ganga
(Ghela). Here, Swamishri performed the pujan of Thakorji and the river
Ghela, where Shriji Maharaj and 500 paramhansas and devotees had bathed
and sanctified its waters. Then Swamishri and senior sadhus set afloat
glowing lamps into the Ghela water and the sight of 5,222 divas floating
in the river was spectacular and divine. Finally, Swamishri and the
entire congregation performed the maha-arti of river Ghela, an occasion
that was suffused with devotion and spiritual joy.
