BAPS holds International
Women’s Conventions where representatives from all over the world
participate. Such conventions tackle the toughest problems faced
by women and girls the world over. Psychiatrists, women’s consultants,
leadership advisers, career officers, crime analysts, police officers
and parents tackle every problem with experienced solutions. Topics
ranging from dowry to suicide, illiteracy to careers, health care
to child-rearing are discussed in depth, providing all possible
help and information. Women also participate in workshops, debates
and question-answer sessions.

International Conventions Managed By Women
BAPS gives women a stage
to express their skills independently in every form. Women are
given the same opportunities as the men.
- In 1995, Mumbai, BAPS celebrated
the 75th Birth Anniversary of its present leader,
Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj. A 37-day festival that
attracted 8.1 million people from all over the world. Of the
22,000 volunteers, 6,500 were women and 470 were girls. They
served in no less than 27 different departments ranging from
accommodation to auditorium arrangements, publicity to reception,
decorating to kitchen, and from exhibition guides to cultural
programs.
On this occasion, Mrs.
Urmilaben Patel, (Minister of State of Power, Delhi), commented:
"On seeing the Women’s Exhibition here, it is apparent that
women are given just as much scope as the men."
- In 1995, London, BAPS inaugurated
the world’s largest stone Hindu Mandir outside India – Shri
Swaminarayan Mandir, women volunteers gave their time to serve
in a variety of services from polishing stones to feeding
the thousands of volunteers. They managed the organization
of women’s meets and conventions, sponsored walks and also
collecting aluminium cans for recycling.
- In 1992, Gandhinagar, India,
BAPS celebrated the Centenary of one of its previous leaders
– Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj. In this 35-day festival to
uplift society socially and morally, 4,200 women volunteers
served in 29 different departments ranging from the kitchen
to public relations to transport.
- In 1991, New Jersey, USA, BAPS
held its second Cultural Festival of India. 600 women served
in 32 different departments to make this one of the greatest
Indian festivals in the history of America.
- In 1985, Ahmedabad, BAPS organized
The Convention for Better Living in Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
1,600 women members volunteered to serve during the festival.
They quickly took up responsibilities in the catering department,
women’s stage programs and conferences, part of the accommodation
department, medical department and even the plumbing &
maintenance department.
- In 1985, London, BAPS organized
the first mega festival of its kind, The Cultural Festival
of India in London. 500 women volunteers of the Sanstha took
upon the task to offer their services for the festival for
more than a month. The women’s main responsibilities during
the festival were to prepare food for the thousands of visitors
from all over the world, organize stage programs and special
women’s conferences, and promote publicity of the festival.
